Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crime Kemas Yahya Rahman was examined Wednesday by the Attorney General Office (AGO) following the revelation of his phone conversation with alleged briber Artalyta Suryani at a corruption court.

The probe began from 8:00 a.m. through 3:15 p.m. but Kemas refused to talk to journalists after the end of the inquiry.

However, Junior Attorney General on Supervision M.S. Rahardjo, who led the probe, said Kemas met twice with Artalyta at the AGO building.

Kemas also told the team that he was not a close friend of Artalyta although they looked like a good friend in the phone conversation, Rahardjo said.

Kemas claimed he contacted Artalyta to keep his earlier promise that he would inform the latter should there be a decision from the AGO on the Bank Indonesia Liquidation Assistance (BLBI) case
involving Artalyta relative Sjamsul Nursalim.

Kemas was sacked from his post after his subordinate, state prosecutor Urip Tri Gunawan, allegedly received a US$660,000 bribe from Artalyta. (***)
