Talented Australian singer and 2006 Australian Idol runner-up Jessica Mauboy arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday for a three-day tour.

Australia's Ambassador to Indonesia Bill Farmer welcomed the 18-year-old singer to the country under the "IN2OZ: Creative Australia" program, a series of Australian cultural diplomacy events being held in Indonesia throughout 2008.

"With an Indonesian father and Australian mother, Jessica is a living example of the strong cultural and people-to-people ties between Australia and Indonesia," Farmer said.

"Jessica's visit is a great opportunity to celebrate the friendship between our countries and we are delighted to welcome Jessica to her second homeland."

Mauboy became a household name in Australia after becoming one of the final two contestants in the Australian Idol competition. She went on to record a solo album titled The Journey, which was released in February last year.

Mauboy's short Indonesian tour will include a trip to Surabaya on Wednesday, where she will sing the Australian national anthem at a pre-match ceremony for the inaugural Western Australia-East Java Friendship Football Cup at Deltras Stadium in East Java.

From there she will travel to Jakarta to give a live performance at Plaza Semanggi on Thursday at 3 p.m. together with Indonesia's Idol Divo -- the Indonesian Idol boys Mike, Delon, Judika and Lucky.

Mauboy will perform again with Idol Divo on Friday night during the Indonesian Idol Spectacular Show at Balai Sarbini, which will be broadcast live on RCTI. -- JP
