A labor union urged Thursday workers of cigarette producer Sampoerna to end their strike on Friday to maintain their status as the firm workers.
An official at the Indonesian Prosperity Trade Union (SBSI) said the workers involved in the strike would be considered to have resigned if they were absent from work for five successive working days.
Sampoerna workers have gone on strike since Monday, demanding compensation from the sale of Putra Sampoerna shares in the firm to Phillip Morris.
The workers argued they just asked Putra Sampoerna to keep his promise to them. (***)
