Classic car show in town August

JAKARTA: Vintage car enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy classic cars from Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia during the second Otoblitz International Classic and Sports Car Show 2008 at Balai Kartini on Jl. Gatot Subroto, South Jakarta, Aug. 22-24.

Organizer Azman Osman said among the stars of the show would be the Mercedes-Benz SL 300 Gullwing, the Chevrolet Corvette "Stingray" Cabriolet, the Rolls Royce "Silver Dawn" Limousine and the Ferrari Daytona.

The organizers also invited car makers to showcase their vintage car collections. The collections will be showcased on a 31,700-square-meter area with a capacity of 500 cars.

"Among Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia has the largest classic car collections. We welcome classic car owners to take part in the show, as long as their cars meet our requirements to be displayed," Azman said.

Last year's show featured 170 classic cars and was visited by 16,000 people. The organizers hope the number of visitors this year will exceed last year's. -- JP
