JAKARTA: For the first time, Indonesia will host an international rugby competition from July 12-19, at a new sports stadium in the Pelita Harapan University complex in Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang.

"Indonesia was chosen as the host for a regional tournament that includes Laos and Cambodia," the Indonesian Rugby Federation Union said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Cambodia will play Laos in the July 12 opener at 2 p.m., while the host Rhinos will take on Laos on July 15 at 4 p.m. On July 19, Indonesia will meet Cambodia in the last match of the tournament.

"Entry to all games will be free of charge and will be a great chance for a fun day out with the family," the statement said.

Indonesia has competed internationally for the past two years and has a successful record of five wins and one loss, from six matches.

In a competition last year in Brunei, Indonesia was undefeated against Brunei, Laos and Cambodia. --JP
