Soekarno-Hatta turnpike expansion project should be sped up: VP

Vice President Jusuf Kalla has said the expansion of Soekarno-Hatta Airport turnpike project should be sped up and completed before the arrival of rainy season.

Kalla president made the statement at a function to visit the site of the turnpike, officially known as Prof Sedyatmo turnpike, on Saturday.

The expansion and embankment project of the Sedyatmo turnpike connecting to Soekarno-Hatta Airport was implemented to prevent flooding, because the road was always inundated by flood waters in rainy season and high tide.

About 8 kilometer of the road is being widened at a cost of Rp 600 billion (US$65 million) while the embankment project needs Rp 60 billion. (***)
