President leaves for Malaysia, Japan

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sunday flew to Kuala Lumpur to attend the D-8 summit, ahead of a visit to the G8 summit in Hokkaido, Japan.

Yudhoyono left Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, at 2 p.m., accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda, State Minister for the Environment Rachmat Witoelar, head of the Investment Coordinating Board Luthfi and chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry M.S. Hidayat.

Yudhoyono will meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Monday, as well as a consortium of local investors.

The President and his entourage will then travel to Hokkaido on Tuesday to attend the G8 Outreach Summit on Wednesday.(**)
