The Attorney General's Office (AGO) on Monday received the first part of the dossier on Muchdi Pr, a suspect in the murder of human rights activist Munir, from the police, an official said.

"We received the first volume of the dossier from the National Police yesterday," said the deputy attorney general for general crimes, Abdul Hakim Ritonga, on Tuesday.

A public prosecutors team now have seven days to examine the dossier and decide whether it was already formally and materially complete and meets all the required conditions to be accepted for further processing, he said.

If the first installment of the dossier is found to be adequate, the police can present the next volume of the dossier and exhibits, Ritonga said.

Otherwise, the AGO will return the dossier to the police to improve its substance.

An AGO team led by prosecutors Cyrus Sinaga and Agus Ruswandi has been assigned to examine the dossier, said Ritonga.

Ritonga said Muchdi Pr, a former deputy chief of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and former commander of the Special Force (Kopassus), is facing charges based on Article 340 and Article 55 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder carrying the maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Muchdi is currently being held at the Mobile Brigade detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok, south of Jakarta.(**)
