Supporting political party: Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Mangku Pastika and Puspayoga are promising to develop Bali into a society that is "grand and holy" or mandara. The term is also an acronym devised for their campaign, meaning advanced, safe, peaceful and prosperous.

Their campaign has focused on establishing an island-wide security system that meets international standards, in keeping with Pastika's reputation as the police officer who was under the spotlight during investigations into Bali's first terrorist bombing in 2002. The security system, they say, will create a safer island and, in turn, rehabilitate the island's image as a world-class tourist destination. The pair have also promised to transform tourism on the island into a quality-oriented industry.

The pair have promised to disburse soft loans to small and medium-sized enterprises and to launch programs to provide 10,000 new jobs per year.

To prevent corruption, the pair have pledged to involve the Corruption Eradication Commission in the design, financing, implementation and supervision of every development program.

"May God hear our pledges, for which we are ready to be held responsible," Mangku Pastika said.
