JAKARTA: Publicly listed automobile assembler PT Indomobil Sukses International on Thursday launched the four-wheel drive double cabin "Great Wall Wingle" of China on the back of strong demand from plantation, mining and energy companies.

Indomobil hopes to sell around 100 units per month this year, or around a 10 to 12 percent share of the country's double cabin truck market, Indomobil director Jusak Kertowidjojo said.

"We are optimistic that 90 percent of our customers will come from the corporate sector because of the boom in commodity businesses," he said.

Indomobil will market the product mostly in Palembang, Pekanbaru, Banjarmasin, Jakarta and Surabaya.

Mitsubishi Strada Triton is the market leader in the double cabin truck market, with more than half of the market.

Local sales of double cabin trucks are expected to rise by 20 percent to 6,000 units this year from 5,000 units last year, Jusak said. (JP/rff)
