Supreme Court fires district court head for blackmail

The Supreme Court on Friday fired West Jakarta District Court Head Chaidir for blackmailing a graft suspect.

The Supreme Court Deputy Chief Justice for Supervision, Joko Sarwoko said Chaidir made a phone call to bribery suspect Artalyta Suryani on March 1, asking her to cover all two Supreme Court Justices expenses to play golf in China.

The next day, Artalyta was arrested for allegedly bribing state prosecutor Urip Tri Gunawan to stop the investigation into a Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance case.

"As of July 10, Chaidir no longer serves as the head of the West Jakarta District Court because of his wrongdoing," Joko said as quoted by Elshinta radio. (***)
