Your comments on the report of the Indonesia-Timor Leste joint Commission for Truth and Friendship (CTF) and the prospect of justice for those involved in gross human rights violations

The report doesn't surprise us, right? Justice should be upheld by sending the suspects to court.

Indonesia and Timor Leste may close the case, but Indonesia can uphold justice internally.

We keep saying that we're a brave nation. Show it then! Bring them to court and let justice speak. This is to pay respect to the victims as well.

It will be better for us to learn from South Africa. During the white administration there were so many human rights violations. Right now is the black people's revenge?

The name of the team is the Commission for Truth and Friendship. So its first duty is to tell the truth, though it is difficult. After that it has to endorse the friendship between Indonesia and Timor leste.

The friendship should be established upon the truth of the victims of the tragedy. The commission must tell the truth and the truth will set you free.

Justice should be upheld, but like incidents in September 1965 and in May 1998, it certainly will not. This time, one of the mass murderers may be the next president! As I said before: Justice is not for common people. Here justice is for those who can bribe the judges!

Many East Timorese may still want to see justice upheld against actors of the gross human rights violations in 1999. But it is better that all parties welcome the idea to close the case for a better and prosperous future of the two nations.

Let bygones be bygones. We are brothers.

Violations were committed by both sides, although Indonesia may have contributed more. I believe the human rights abuses should be put to rest and not pursued as the generals were just following Soeharto's orders. All good generals have to abide by those orders. Therefore, Soeharto's stolen money should be given to the people of Timor Leste as compensation for their suffering.
