Japanese animation character Doraemon and Indonesian traditional folk performance Reog Ponorogo will highlight the Indonesia-Japan Friendship Festival to be held on Sunday at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium.
Organized by the Jakarta Japan Club, the festival will also feature a Japanese drum performance, Taiko, and Acehnese dance in the opening ceremony. Also performing a number of Indonesian bands such as Dewi-Dewi and Letto.
The festival is held in conjunction with 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.
On Jan. 18-24, Japanese Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kawashimo Kiko visited Jakarta to attend a ceremony to commemorate the diplomatic ties. (****)
