The Jakarta Transportation Agency will close fast lanes on Jl. Sudirman from Friday night until early Saturday morning to place girders in order to construct a pedestrian bridge.
The roadblock starts at 11 p.m. and ends at 4 a.m. and takes place in the fast lanes heading to the Blok M area, South Jakarta, in front of Atma Jaya Catholic University, agency's traffic engineering division head M. Akbar said Friday.
"The roadblock will only affect the fast lanes heading south to Blok M area only," Akbar said at his office.
"Motorists heading to Blok M area can take the slow lanes and then switch to the fast lanes, without having to take a passage under the Semanggi cloverbridge."
Akbar said the pedestrian bridge will connect the Benhil busway shelter of Corridor I (Kota, West Jakarta - Blok M, South Jakarta) to a future busway shelter in front of the Jakarta Police headquarters and will span around 500 meters.
The future busway shelter will be part of busway's Corridor IX connecting Pinang Ranti in East Jakarta with Pluit in North Jakarta. (mtq/****)
