After nearly 14 hours of late-night interrogation by Yogyakarta Police on Thursday, alternative energy hoax suspect Djoko Suprapto was taken to the hospital due to his heart condition.
"His blood sugar level drastically increased," Adj. Com. Badrul Munir of the police's health team said over the weekend.
Djoko was still receiving medical treatment at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital after reportedly answering 58 questions during the 14-hour interrogation, which lasted until late into Friday night.
It was the second time that Djoko was hospitalized for health reasons after he was first accused more than two weeks ago as a suspect in the hoax case.
On July 9, or a day before he was declared a suspect, the police went to Djoko's home in Ngadiboyo village in Rejoso district, Nganjuk, East Java, but were unable to arrest him because he was being treated for a heart problem.
On July 14, Djoko came to police headquarters but was unable to undergo questioning due to his rising blood pressure. He was later sent to Jogja International Hospital and treated there for seven days at his own expense.
Djoko returned to police headquarters Thursday at about 10.30 a.m. accompanied by his lawyer Susantio. "I am healthy," he said as he entered the interrogation room.
The graft case started earlier this year when Djoko and his partners offered Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University a product which would change water into fuel.
The university later launched this product-to-be under the trade name Banyu Geni, which means "fire water".
It also agreed to develop the Jodhipati 3-megawatt power plant using Djoko's technology. The plant was subsequently dismantled because it produced no electricity.
Responding to the case, Susantio said he was representing Djoko who is accusing the university of wrongfully destroying the power plant.
The police investigated the case after the university had spent Rp 1.5 billion on the project and filed a lawsuit against Djoko.
