KUALA LUMPUR: Dangdut singer Inul Daratista, who drew ire as well as sympathy from the public for her trademark gyrating dance in 2003, was probably experiencing a deja vu.

Her Sunday concert at Bukit Djalil Kuala Lumpur stadium in Malaysia was canceled by local authorities, her second such cancellation in the neighboring country.

Malaysian media reported the Kuala Lumpur administration had decided to cancel the Sunday concert, which was to be held in lieu of her canceled concert at Johor Bahru stadium.

The concert's organizer Nasir Abu Bakar, CEO of IMS Sdn Bhd, said he lost an estimated MYR 800,000 (US$244,240) from the cancellations: MYR 300,000 from the first and MYR 500,000 from the second.

"We lost a lot from the first cancellation at Johor Bahru, but now it is even greater," he told Antara.

He said the organizer had to return the money for the 25,000 sold tickets. It is unclear whether or not the cancellation was caused by Inul's controversially sensual gyration, but she was reported to have earlier said she would comply with the stadium's required policies. -- JP
