SURABAYA, E. Java: Despite using up-to-date forensic equipment, provided by the United States government, the forensic team of East Java Police faces difficulty in identifying one victim in the case of serial killer Verry Idham Henyanksyah.

Forensic expert Comr. Hery Widjatmoko said Friday that the have police failed to identify one of the ten bodies, uncovered at Verry's house in Jombang, East Java, since it had yet to find antemortem, a matching sample taken from the victim's body when still alive.

"The police have conducted DNA tests with families who have lost a family member, but we found that none of them match with the body's characteristics," said Hery.

"The victim was about 20-30 years old of Mongoloid race, having complete teeth and wearing a wooden necklace as well as 10 rubber bracelets."

The police had conducted DNA tests with Fausin Suyanto's mother, Suyati, 65, from Nganjuk; Hendro Liyono's mother, Linheni, 55, of Jombang; M Afandi's brother, Lukman; and a family member of Teguh Firmansyah of Bogor. -- JP
