The government is asking the regional administrations to take responsibility for the next year’s national education budget, which will be included in each regional budget.
“Almost half of the education budget will taken from regional budgets,” said Finance Ministry head of fiscal policy Anggito Abimanyu, as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com on Tuesday.
The government has allocated more than Rp 1,000 trillion
(US$110 billion) in its 2009 budget.
Anggito explained that the budget for education was not only allocated in the national budget, but rather most of it was allocated in the regional budgets. (*)
