MATARAM, W. Nusa Tenggara: West Nusa Tenggara provincial prosecutors' office on Tuesday arrested the former head of the provincial Transmigration Agency, Abdul Wahab Yasin, for his alleged involvement in a graft case.
Yasin was arrested after being questioned by prosecutors for around five hours.
The prosecutors were investigating the construction of a transmigration settlement in Sumbawa regency in 2005, worth Rp 3.8 billion (US$413,000).
"The project, including some 200 houses, 20 wells and roads, was carried out when Yasin was agency head as well as the project's budget controller," deputy prosecutors chief AW Hasibuan told reporters.
"It is estimated the state lost around Rp 1 billion. The exact figure is still being calculated by the Development Finance Controller."
Prosecutors also arrested a contractor and a consultant in the same case, Hasibuan said. -- JP
