JAKARTA: A teenage boy was killed on Sunday after being electrocuted while riding on the roof of a commuter train.
His body was removed from the roof at Pancasila University station, South Jakarta, at around 3:15 p.m.
State railway operator PT Kereta Api's head of public relations, Akhmad Sujadi, said Jagakarsa police officers took the body of the unidentified boy to a hospital nearby.
Ahmad said the economy train was serving the Bogor-Jakarta route.
The railway company had to shut down electricity while retrieving the body, stopping six service lines in the process.
"After the boy's body was taken down, we put the power back on and six service lines are back to normal," he said.
The railway company had recently intensified efforts to discourage freeloaders, especially those traveling on the roof. -- JP
