If Mahfud is of that opinion he should quickly pass a verdict annulling all those bigoted bylaws that have already caused so much suffering.

Sharia bylaws are rigid and are created by and for the Arabs in seventh century. We Indonesians should ban sharia law once for all and adopt a dynamic constitution.

Our country was founded by our forefathers and leaders based on one Constitution. Let's not betray our founding fathers. Focus all of our energies on implementing Pancasila and continuously improving the welfare of our people. We do not need sharia bylaws, but rather the right and true enforcement of the existing laws.

Sharia bylaws obviously contradict the Constitution and threaten our national integrity. The country was built and has passed through the years with the spirit of nationalism, which consists of so many races, religions, territories and cultures.
So far the nation still unites as one country. Are we going to risk this precious thing by adopting new values that still have not proven their effectiveness to the country?

Sharia bylaws? Why not? I think with them we will be able to eliminate corruption in this country. Government officials will be scared of committing any corruption because they will lose their hands.

Sharia law not only threatens national integrity, but discourages investment and tourism. It will cripple our economy.

I absolutely agree with Mahfud M.D.

I agree with his statement. It's clear that sharia bylaws contradict the Constitution's preamble.

Moh. Mahfud M.D., keep up the good work. If waving a flag of South Maluku Republic (RMS) and Papua were threatened with life imprisonment, then all the politicians endorsing sharia bylaws should face the death penalty because they are the real traitors to Indonesia.

His statement is absolutely right in order to prevent this nation from disunity. Indonesia is multicultural. Therefore, Pancasila state ideology is the best to unify Indonesia.
Many women become victims under sharia law. I agree with Mahfud M.D.'s statement saying that any such laws are against the Constitution and Pancasila.
I think the government should take stern action against any movements or organizations that attempt to force sharia law. I strongly defend Pancasila as the main source of laws for Indonesia.

I don't think sharia bylaws contradict the Constitution and threaten the national integrity. Sharia will solve human problems.

Yes, Moh. Mahfud M.D. is absolutely right. We've waited so long for such a statement. We have our own laws and therefore weneed sharia bylaws.
Note that they are called bylaws and not laws. It threatens national integrity because it breeds discrimination.

Definitely, sharia bylaws contradict the Constitution and threaten the national integrity. Good job Pak Moh. Mahfud M.D. Carry on. May God always bless Indonesia and her people.

Halo, are we living in the 21st century? Why don't we move on to more fundamental issues such as education, family planning, youth empowerment and much, much more?

Indonesia cannot have it both ways. It can be either a unitary republic or it can implement Islamic law where non-Islamic areas are free to leave the republic. Indonesians must choose: Islamic rule or national unity? They can't have both.

I agree with the Constitutional Court chief's statement about sharia bylaws. I think implementing religious bylaws would jeopardize Indonesia's unity in diversity. Religion should be a private matter and not a political one, so that the majority will not dominate the minority.

It is a chance for Moh. Mahfud M.D. to help our nation. I agree with Mahfud. I support you.

Mahfud's statement brought fresh air and new hope for the integration of Indonesia. I salute this courageous step. Sharia bylaws are definitely against the Constitution and discriminating. A country can't have a duality in law.
