Yuddy Chrisnandy, a Golkar Party lawmaker, has officially declared his withdrawal as one of the party's legislative candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Although Yuddy said the decision was not an emotional one, he said he was disappointed with the party's executive board.
Yuddy previously questioned the party's decision to promote him as Golkar's fourth candidate to represent West Java, which will be represented by only nine lawmakers in the House, in the legislative election. The party never answered his question.
The lawmaker, however, made certain that he would not leave the party, vowing that he would instead go for a leadership position within the party.
Yuddy has been known for often having different views to the party. In June, he was the only one in his faction to vote in favor of the parliamentary review of the government's unpopular decision to raise fuel prices.
He united with other parties against the fuel price increase and demanded a parliamentary review. Golkar party, which was chaired by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, was in favor of the price increase. (dre)
