Turkey to organize food festival

INDONESIA: From Wednesday, the InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza will be infused with the unique aromas, sights and sounds of Turkey.

In cooperation with the InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza, the Turkish embassy in Jakarta is organizing a Turkish Food and Cultural Festival in Jakarta.

"This festival is being organized with the aim of promoting cultural relations between Turkey and Indonesia," Turkey's Ambassador to Indonesia Aydin Evirgen said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post.

The festival will open Wednesday and will continue until Sept. 12.

During the festival, Ambassador Evirgen said, three prominent chefs will prepare authentic Turkish food. There will also be a musical performance by a Turkish music group. Turkish carpets and handicrafts will be on display during the event. -- JP/Veeramalla Anjaiah
