The 25-year-old Indonesian maid who was allegedly abused by her female employer in Bandar Baru Nilai, Malaysia, last week has withdrawn her report against her alleged abuser.
According to reports quoted by Tempo Interaktif, Seremban Police chief Adj. Comr. Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the maid withdrew her report against the 33-year-old woman on Monday and the alleged abuser, whom police detained on Sunday, was released.
"However, we will continue our investigation and hand our report to the deputy public prosecutor. It is up to the DPP whether to charge the alleged abuser," Saiful Azly said.
Antara earlier reported that the maid preferred to be given compensation than bringing the case to a court of law in Malaysia.
"I have already withdrawn my report from the Malaysian police and prefer a compensation from my employer for mistreatment," Kamira said at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
She said was receiving compensation from her employer and the payment of her 21 month-wage in addition to an insurance payment of about Rp 40 million in Jakarta.
Kamira's case, which had been processed at the Seremban Police station of Negeri Sembilan, was eventually settled at the embassy upon the embassy's request.
Kamira, who is from Cilacap, Central Java, was previously rushed to Seremban hospital for serious burns in her mouth and bruises to her face.
Her 33-year-old employer was reported to have accused her of being lazy and not performing her duties properly, and allegedly used a lighted candle to burn the maid's mouth and forced her to drink boiling water though a straw.
Kamira reportedly worked in Malaysia through a labor placement agency Mitra Solusi Integritas in Central Java and Malaysian agency Permai Unik Sdn Bhd. (amr)

It does not matter where on Earth you are, overall you have a disgusting and anti social rest of "human beings" of approx. 2 to 5% what have a real criminal and bad behaviour against other people what they have the control about. This rest of 2 to 5% you can find in govs (e. g. dictators), members of Mafia, pimps and and and... last but not least in the normal pupulation also. And all good willing ppl on earth should work together in Non Government Organisations to fight with democratic weapons about this rest of 2 to 5%. It is this rest what makes life much more difficult to the other 95 to 98%! This is a comment written by a German reader of the Jakarta Post.

Reasonable Malaysians should be ashamed and in future not tolerate such beastly behavior of their countrymen & women. Compensation paid to the maid is peanuts I am sure, compared to the suffering caused. All who do such dastardly things (or indeed if you do good things) should remember natural law : whatever you do to others will return back to you with interest.
