Fellow bikers say they are ready to be questioned in relation to the death of actor-turned-politician Sophan Sophian in a Harley-Davidson motorcade accident in May.
Former National Police chief Roesmanhadi and former Defense Ministry directorate general Pieter Wattimena, who participated in the convoy to commemorate the 100th National Awakening Day, made the statement in response to a suspicion uttered by Sophan's widow Widyawati, saying that there were irregularities in his husband death.
"Let's report to the police any new evidences in the accident. Don't go talking here and there," Roesmanhadi said, as quoted by Kompas.com. He said he would not intervene with the police investigation.
Police report on the accident states Sophan was killed in a single accident after he fell off his motorcycle due to bad road conditions between Ngawi and Surakarta in Central Java.
Sophan lost his balance when his motorcycle's wheel hit a pothole and tried to evade it. The famous actor was dragged for about 25 meters from the pothole and died shortly after.
Widyawati, however, suspected that Sophan was run over by another bike after he fell off his bike.
Roesmanhadi and Pieter, who were riding behind Sophan before the accident, denied that they caused his death. (dre)
