Your comments on what should happen during Ramadan, a month-long exercise for Muslims to avoid misconduct.

Ramadan yaa Ramadan. Let's sanctify our hearts during the fasting day. We must read the Koran and stay close to Allah. Non-Muslims must respect Muslims who are fasting.

Ramadan is the time to refrain from all kinds of sin. I pray that this beautiful country will stop killing as a kind of punishment. Killing is not a punishment but a crime except when it's necessary to defend one's life. I wish everyone a good Ramadan.

I think that refraining from misconduct should be a life-long mission for every Muslim. Unfortunately many Muslims in Indonesia believe they can wash away all their bad practices by fasting.

I hope this Ramadan is much more than just a once-a-year festivity. It's about struggling in all aspects of our lives. Let's do something that will make the future better. Hope for the best, but still prepare for the worst.

Every year, many promise to say no to corruption, drugs, adultery and other crimes. Yes, everybody dreams it will happen.

For Muslims all over the world, Ramadan is the best month-long exercise for refraining from internal and external misconduct. The ultimate point of fasting is to purify our spiritual soul from any sins.

But unfortunately in Indonesia, many Muslims still miss the essential item that controls the lust or desire in our mind. To soothe our lust, we must develop goodwill for others by giving respect instead of asking for respect from others.

There are a lot of sins we have done these past 11 months. And I just hope I can clean up those sins, and be a better Muslim the next 11 months.

Hopefully, Ramadan can make us a better person, not only during the fasting month, but more importantly, after Ramadan is over. Dear Muslims, I wish you a blessed Ramadan.

Ramadan or not I think we all should do good things in our lives. Ramadan is a time to look back and think whether we've done the best by others and the environment. First, take good care of ourselves by making effort to stay healthy. Work hard and smart to earn extra income so that we can continue to make contributions to the benefit of all.

Yes, it is a month-long exercise, but the spirit of fasting should be continued as a daily practice in the months to come. Our nation is very sick now, mentally and physically.

Why don't we start from this Ramadan sharing our love and care. It is time for every individual to be concerned about the family, community and in the end, the nation.

In Ramadan month, Muslims are not only obliged to fast but also to do pious deeds as often as possible so God will reward them. After that, they should try to avoid doing any forbidden thing in order to become devout Muslims.
