Hereby, I would like to request President SBY rethink his new policy on electronic books via the internet for students of primary to senior high schools. These books are very expensive and difficult to access. The policy is not only difficult for students to download, but also expensive for parents to support their children to study.
Another effect of the policy is on publishers and their employees. Many workers have been fired since this policy was released.
I am one of the English book writers who has been affected; my publisher is now afraid to print and publish my books because of the new policy.
I quite understand the policy will be very good in 10 - 20 years time, but not for now.
I really hope the President and Education Minister would be kind enough to review and rethink the policy.
A lot of people find it very hard to meet their daily needs. If you would care to see the reality outside presidential palace, you would see how difficult it is for citizens to live comfortably.
Thanks for your attention. I am looking forward to hearing your reply promptly.
