TANGERANG: The Tangerang municipal administration has sealed a number of establishments in Kreo subdistrict for ignoring orders to refrain from nighttime entertainment activities during Ramadan.
"The sealed entertainment spots are all cafes that not only served food and drinks, but also presented female singers at dances," Tihadi A, an official of the municipal public order agency, said Friday.
The agency called on the cafes not to operate during the fasting month, but were ignored, prompting officers to seal the establishments with padlocks.
"Owners of the cafes made no resistance at all when officers locked their cafes -- because they were aware they'd made a mistake, I guess," Tihadi said, adding such operations would continue during the fasting month. -JP
