JAKARTA: The public library on Jl. Nyi Ageng Serang in Kuningan, South Jakarta, has seen a 50 percent drop in visitors during the fasting month.
The library usually receives around 300 visitors a day, with that number declining to 150 with the start of Ramadan, head of the library's information division Bambang Chidir told beritajakarta.com.
"Most visitors are students," he added.
During Ramadan, the library closes at 4 p.m, remaining open until 8 p.m. for the rest of the year.
In previous years, the number of library visitors reached normal levels around the middle of the holy month, Bambang said, adding the library received 5,730 visitors in August. -JP
