September sees four baby dumping cases

JAKARTA: The bodies of two infants were discovered at separate locations in North Jakarta on Friday: an eight-month-old found in a river in Cilincing, and another -- estimated to be five months old -- discovered on Jl. Mandor Iren in Tanjung Priok.
Bahri, an informal trash collector, found the five-month-old inside a green cardboard box at a garbage dump while searching for used goods.
He later reported the body to the North Jakarta Police.
According to media and police reports, one dead infant is discovered in the city or the greater metropolitan area every month.
In September, four dead newborns or infants have been found throughout the city -- on roads, at garbage sites, or along river banks.
August and July saw two dead babies each in Bekasi, with three discovered there in June.
According to criminal code article 341, a mother who intentionally allows her baby to die could face up to seven years in prison, while article 342 stipulates that a mother found guilty of murdering her infant faces nine years in prison. --JP

Science has now proven that human life begins at conception. Inspite of which, abortion has become an excuse for convenience. Here in the USA, abortion is legal and we still have baby dumping. Abortion will never be the answer. The elevation of the value of human life at all stages including the unborn would be a more effective course of action. Did you ever think that perhaps the "Adoption Option" would be a better couse of action than the distruction of any inocent human life?
As for the mothers, perhaps the children died and the families could not afford to bury them.

Indonesian Government needs to provide education and resources for women and men alike. These women probably had little hope and could probably see no future for themselves raising a child alone. The men and or fathers of these children, if that can be identified, are just as guilty.

Mothers that are dumping their babies, should be given life sentence. If baby died due to mothers neglect, this is criminal offense and it is murder one. I think that Indonesia need changes of their judiciary. There is no excuse for such crime. If they are able to make babies than they should put up if them.
