Child firecracker sellers rounded up

TANGERANG: Police officers seized thousands of firecrackers from one adult and eight underage vendors in a raid on board a train in Tangerang on Monday.
The boys, aged 9 to 13, and 27-year-old Rustiawan were selling on a Tanah Abang-Serpong train when about 40 police officers boarded at Pondok Ranji station in Tangerang looking for them. Some 13,000 items were confiscated.
"Firecrackers can be dangerous not only to the users but also to other people. Selling them also disturbs public order," Ciputat Police chief Comr. Ngisa Angasri said.
He said the children would not be punished. Their parents were called to pick them at the police station. -- JP
