Most House of Representatives members involved in appointing Miranda Swaray Goeltom as the central bank's deputy senior governor in June 2004 may face prosecution, an audit agency revealed.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced Wednesday that the Financial, Transaction, Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK) had identified 400 travel cheques distributed to members of House Commission IX overseeing financial affairs in the period of 1999 to 2004.

"We have received the results of the PPATK audit and will investigate the source of the fund," Antasari said.

Earlier, House Commission IX member Agus Condro Prayitno confessed to accepting 10 travel cheques worth a total of Rp 500 million (US$53,400), which he received after Miranda was appointed and cashed in at Bank Indonesia (BI).

Agus's confession was later used by PPATK as a starting point for further investigation.(and)
