KPK to name Aulia suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was impartial in naming former Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governer Aulia Pohan a suspect in the BI embezzlement case, the commission's chairman says.
"Burhanuddin Abdullah's (former BI governor) indictment states that he was charged for crimes he allegedly committed together (with Aulia). It is clear that KPK is not discriminatory," Antasari Antasari said on the sidelines of a hearing with House Commission III on Wednesday.
The chairman said it was only a matter of time before Aulia be named a suspect in the case.
KPK has been under pressure to arrest Aulia for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of Rp 100 billion (US$10.9 million) in BI funds in 2003. Five suspects are currently standing trial.
Critics have said all evidence proves that Aulia, who is the father-in-law of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's son Agus Harimurti, was involved in the graft case.
According to the KPK, it is waiting for the outcomes in the trials of Burhanuddin, former BI legal bureau head Oey Hoey Tiong, suspended chief of BI Surabaya Rusli Simanjuntak and two lawmakers from Golkar Party, Hamka Yandhu and Anthony Zeidra Abidin before they continue with the rest of the suspects.
