Your comments on the scarcity of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) following the announcement of a price increase by state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina

It shows that our government never thinks about the consequences of their policies. If kerosene is gone, LPG will be hard to get as the price is increasing. Maybe we should use timber, like most villagers do.

It is simple enough to find the main problem behind the LPG shortage.

The government has all the data about LPG distribution. The question is, "Are the government serious about settling this matter or not?"

We acknowledge that not only LPG supply is a problem currently. The price of kerosene is now Rp 12,000 (US$1.30) per liter. The people cry out for that. We don't understand, why does the government do this to us?

President, Sir, it's disgrace to hear and see that the distributions of gasoline, gas and kerosene have not been conducted properly and have disrupted the lives of poor people -- giving cause for concern and uncertainty in their daily lives.

Those who have tried to discredit you and the people in this game should be brought to court and should be sentenced very heavily.

It's not fair.

The LPG problem stems from Soeharto's last years in power. At that time both LPG and oil refineries should have been built. Also, oil research was stopped and that is why we have a shortage now.

The current government has done nothing either.

This shortage causes more chances for a better price. Further problems have been caused by the government, which wants to save on subsidy payments.

The scarcity of LPG is no more than a political game approaching the 2009 general election for the presidency.

This has been created to indirectly ruin SBY's reputation so people won't vote for him.

The LPG scarcity is more of a political matter than an economic one.

This has hurt the people of Indonesia because LPG is now a basic need after kerosene was phased out. It is a sign that our current government can't do more for our basic lives.

We think the government finds it easy to make promises but finds its promises hard to keep.
