MATARAM, W.Nusa Tenggara: The inauguration of elected West Nusa Tenggara governor for 2008-2013 Zainul Madji and deputy governor Badrul Munir will be postponed indefinitely, an official says.
Provincial administration spokesman Ibnu Salim on Wednesday said the inauguration would be held after the administration received a presidential decree on the governor's determination and installment.
"The delay has something to do with a lawsuit filed at the Supreme Court by candidates who failed to win the election. But the court recently rejected the lawsuit," Ibnu said.
Previously, West Nusa Tenggara legislative council and provincial administration planned the inauguration for Sept. 1, the day after former governor Lalu Serinata ended his tasks on Aug. 31.
Ibnu said the administration rescheduled the inauguration and would likely postpone it again due to the absence of the presendential decree.
"We are still waiting for the decree. It is all up to President and the home minister," Ibnu said,
Zainul and Badrul, who were nominated by the Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS) and the Crescent Star Party (PBB), won the first direct gubernatorial election last July. --JP
