Suspected bombs exploded at gold and copper mining giant PT Freeport Indonesia's site in Papua Thursday night. No fatalities were reported.

The police deployed on Friday morning a team of police personnel form special force Detachment 88 in Jayapura.

The Jakarta Post reported that the team members, led by Papua Detachment 88 Commander Sr. Comr. Wisarlan, arrived at the explosion sites on Friday morning, located at Mile 38 and Mile 50.

Local military commander Lt. Col. Trie Soeseno told tempointeraktif.com that the attackers bombed a security post at Mile 50 and then tried to explode a bridge at Mile 38, but to no avail.

"It's true there were explosions, but they caused no significant damages. The perpetrators used stove heating system to explode the bridge," Trie said. (Markus)
