A rescue team is searching for crew members of cargo ship KLM Setia Sejahtera, which reportedly sank in Lombok waters, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), early Tuesday morning.

Mataram Search and Rescue (SAR) team head Ida Bagus Budhisma said the ship, which was carrying a 130-ton load, was headed for Bima, NTB, from Surabaya.

"We estimate that it sank a mile west of Gili Trawangan (an island on the northern part of the Lombok waters). We are still searching the area," he told The Jakarta Post.

A captain and 12 crew members were reportedly on board, Budhisma said.

The search team was joined by the police, the navy and local fishermen.

"We are not sure what caused the accident," Budhisma said. (dre)
