Policemen confiscate documents Tuesday belonging to plantation giant Asian Agri, controlled by tycoon Sukanto Tanoto, as part of a tax probe in Jakarta. The documents had been returned to Asian Agri after the Central Jakarta High Court ruled in the company’s favor, only to be reconfiscated by the directorate when allegations surfaced of a tax scam involving Rp 794 billion (US$85 million) in state losses. With his net worth estimated at US$3.8 billion, Sukanto is the richest man in the country this year, according to Forbes Magazine. (JP/Ricky Yudhistira)
