State-owned gas distributor PGN plans to increase supply to state power company PLN's Java-Bali power plants to 260 mmscfd (million standard cubic feet per day), from 230 mmscfd, starting next year.
"The gas supply would be used for Muara Tawar, Tanjung Priok and Cilegon (in East Java) power plants," said Handi Santoso, PGN president director, as quoted by Kompas.com Monday.
He said the additional supply would be delivered from South Sumatra through the South Sumatra-West Java Gas Transmission Pipeline.
Handi said PGN, which had signed a deal for 200 mmscfd gas supply for Muara Tawar, has just signed to Tanjung Priok 30 mmscfd and was discussing another supply agreement.
"The current price for the gas supply is US$5.61 per mmBtu (million British thermal unit), but there could be changes next year," he said.
The three power plants are the major supplier of electricity in Java and Bali Islands. (dre)
