Former national number one ANGELIQUE WIDJAJA is moving on with her life after deciding to quit the women’s tennis tour. It was a difficult decision, especially because many had pinned their hopes on the 2001 Wimbledon junior champion, but she was burned out by the grind of constant travel and recurrent injuries. “I’ve made the decision to stop. It’s a pity, even I’ll admit that, but maybe people don’t understand what I experienced ... My life is much happier today, I’m very blessed.” Angie, 23, who still occasionally plays in local tournaments, is now working at the new sports and athlete management company Sportama. “It’s a new experience but not too different from my interests. I was once the one who was being taken care of, but now it’s the other way around. It’s a lot of fun.”

+BAGS
It’s a basic for women, right – we like to shop. I like classic designs, big bags. I always carry with me my wallet, hairspray, cosmetics, tissues.

+SHOES
I like high heels, but I’m already quite tall, so I have to be careful that I don’t appear too tall. High heels just look sexier and more stylish. I don’t have any particular brand that I always wear, but they have to be attractive and comfortable to wear. It’s hard to find my size in local makes.

+FAITH
I’m glad that I have been brought up with good values, to live according to the teachings of the Bible. There are people who go to church every Sunday, who pretend to be holy, but their life is a mess. For me, what is important is that we cannot lie to ourselves or to God. My ambition is to have a healthy and happy family. Someone can have all the money in the world, but it doesn’t mean anything if their family is dysfunctional.

+FOOD
My whole family loves to eat. Perhaps there are some people who eat to live, but my family lives to eat – we go in search of good food nonstop! I like almost all types of food; my favorites are steak and Japanese. I’m happy to eat at a sidewalk stall even if other people think they are dirty.

+KAYU PUTIH OIL
Wherever I go, whether I am traveling or playing tennis, I always have a bottle with me in my bag. I’ll put it all over my body like perfume when I’m going to bed. I’ve always loved the smell of it.

+HAIRSPRAY
My hair is very thin, so it looks very flat. I have to use hairspray. Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I didn’t have it.

+LAPTOP
I carry it with me to search the Internet when I’m bored. I love Facebook!
