Armed robbers made off with Rp 1.2 billion (US$130,000) in cash from a Bank Mandiri safe in Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday afternoon.
Medan police chief Adj. Snr. Cmr Aton Suhartono said four men carrying assault rifles broke into the bank at around 1 p.m., Antara news agency reported Tuesday.
The robbers held a security guard as hostage, taking his gun. The police are having difficulties identifying the robbers because there are no security cameras in the bank. The robbers left around Rp 200 million in the safe.
Investigators plan to produce sketches of the robbers from witnesses accounts. (dre)
