JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday questioned Muhammad Iqbal and businessman Billy Sindoro over a bribery case at the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU).
"This is the first questioning session after I was declared a suspect last week," said KPPU member Iqbal after being questioned for more than six hours at the KPK office.
He said there were 37 questions, all related to his arrest when he received Rp 500 million (US$53,000) from Billy, former First Media president director.
The two men were caught red-handed in a Central Jakarta hotel last week. Billy was giving Iqbal a bag containing Rp 500 million in cash. The money was allegedly a payment related to the KPPU ruling on a monopoly accusation over the broadcasting rights for English Premier League soccer matches. The KPPU went on to acquit First Media of all charges.
Iqbal said the investigation process would continue and he would leave everything to the KPK.
"I just told them all the facts. I'm trying to be cooperative during the process," he said. -- JP
