A Merpati Airlines passenger aircraft skidded of a runway track after failing to turn at the Binaka Airport runway in Nias Island on Wednesday at noon. No passengers were injured during the incident.
According to Kompas, the head of the aircraft landed on grass with the rear end blocking the runway, forcing another aircraft of the Riau Airlines to cancel landing and fly back to Medan.
"There is no more problem. The plane made it to the apron," said Merpati corporate secretary Purwatmo.
According to a Kompas reporter who was on the plane, Aufrida Wismi Warastri, the airplane rattled when the nose wheel of the plane slightly plunged off the runway. (ast)
