A short supply of heroin has forced drug dealers, who mostly come from the continent of Africa, to switch to distributing the psychedelic drug Ecstasy, a police investigation reveals.
Head of the second division of the Naitonal Police drugs directorate, Adj. Sr. Comr. Siswadi, told reporters Thursday that heroin had become scarce because the police had managed to cut
several key distribution links.
"The price of heroin has increased from Rp. 1.2 million (US$128) per gram to Rp 1.8 million. Prices going up means the drug has become rare," he said as quoted by Kompas.
He further explained that the average amount of heroin confiscated from dealers caught recently had decreased from hundreds of grams per person to five to 20 grams.
According to Siswadi, the distribution of heroin in Indonesia is controlled by various syndicates with members mostly of African descent, particularly Nigerian, while the ecstasy market controlled by largely Asian sindycates.
A few days back, he said, the city police nabbed a Nigerian attempting to distribute 22,000 ecstasy pills, 150 of which were in the form of capsules, a new form of ecstasy packaging. (ast)

Why do they let Nigerians stay in the country, what are they doing in Indonesia with holiday visa?? i am probably wrong .. but i will clear the 150 pills that where in capsuls , if one has a bag of lets say 25000 pills, some will be crushed, if one wants to sell them the easy way is to put them in capsuls no? so there is no new way ,it's just a creative Nigerian .. i am from Holland and if the cops and the government are little bit smart, they would have thought about that.. but they don't .. please give me a job finding drugs in indonesia, i am sure this gets checked by indonesian police force.. i have been in this line of work for over 15 years (in my country) i would not even smoke a joint in indonesia .. i would love to help the government to find crystal meth , putau, heroin, ecstasy, any other illegal drug ,except for ganja , it should be legal , i have been in Morocco for a few years and they got it right, God did not make Bintang beer or other boose, what u can buy any where in indonesia , he did give us a seed to put in the soil so we can use it for thee or food ,or even smoking it , legalize marijuana!!! death penalty for all other drugs !!
