A family of four, two parents and their children, was found dead in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday morning in a suspected murder-suicide.

The 37-year-old father Yanuar Stefanus was found dead with his wife Peniwati, 36, and two sons, Jonathan Jhonson, 5, and Kevin, 3.

Surabaya Police chief, Snr. Comr. Bambang Suparno said it was believed that Yanuar murdered his family before committing suicide.

"We suspect that he killed his wife and sons, before killing himself," Bambang said, as quoted by Antara news agency.

The suspicion was based on the fact that the room was locked from the inside and there was message written in blood on one of the room's wall,"Ma, people cheat me."

Yanuar was found with a knife sticking into his belly, with his neck and left wrist cut. Peniwati and her sons were found with a cut on the right side of their necks.

Bambang said that his team was waiting for a forensic report and was still investigating the case. (dre)
