Fire ravages traditional market

SALATIGA, C. Java: Some 150 kiosks were razed to the ground causing losses worth billions of rupiah as a fire burned uncontrollably at Rejosari market in Salatiga, Central Java, early Friday morning. ,

Salatiga Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ahmad Haydar said police had yet to conclude on the cause of the fire, but that Semarang Regional Police forensics and laboratory teams were still investigating the case.

Salatiga Market Agency head Tri Prio said his office would build emergency kiosks in a 500-square-meter space at the nearby cattle markets. -- JP
