JAKARTA: The first ever urban festival on environmental issues will be held at the foot of Mt. Salak in Bogor from Oct. 16 through 18.
Bumi Bagus Production and Institute for Global Justice will organize the Gunung Salak Festival in the village of Cihideung Udik, Ciampea district.
The event will coincide with World Food Day on Oct. 16 and International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on Oct. 17.
"The festival aims to help local citizen better understand economic globalization, agriculture in developing countries, poverty and global warming," Revitriyoso Husodo from the steering committee said Thursday.
The organizing groups said they hoped to hold the event annually.
The festival would bring together local leading figures, students, environmentalists and government officials. -- JP
