The Banten Police has been sending reinforcement due security concerns as more homebound travelers began to throng Merak Seaport on Sunday morning.
Banten Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rumiah said there were around 1,000 police officers already stationed at the port.
“We don’t want to have any crime happening,” he said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
Rumiah said the police had just sent 400 officers on Sunday morning to Merak Seaport. More officers are also stationed outside the port and along the port turnpike that is already packed with cueing travelers.
A total of 3,500, or about two-third of the Banten police force, has been on stand by at the homebound route in Banten. (dre)
