Soekarno-Hatta Airport expects highest load on Sunday afternoon

The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is expected to see the peak of homeward-bound travelers for the Idul Fitri holiday on Sunday noon, an offical said.

Airport coordinator member Tri Arfandi told Kompas.com that a total of 846 flights are scheduled to arrive and depart at the international airport, carrying roughly 124,000 passengers.

Main domestic destinations of flights departing from Jakarta include Surabaya, Makassar, Medan, Pontianak and Yoyakarta, Arfandi said.

“The peak will start noon, from 12.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m., as the majority of Sunday’s flights take place during these hours,” he said.

In the morning until noon, he added, the airport was serving a mild traffic with 1121 flights and a total of 13,112 passengers. (dre)
