DENPASAR: Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has urged the Balinese to be on alert in selecting food due to the circulation of contaminated milk products from China.
"The consumers have to be particularly careful and look at the package's label," the governor said Thursday, urging the Balinese to be extra careful so as not to endanger their health.
Head of the Bali Health Office Dewa Ketut Oka shared Pastika's remarks, saying he strongly believed Chinese milk products tainted by the poisonous melamine substance are also in circulation in Bali.
Oka promised to help prevent the sale of tainted products through routine operations. "We will maintain strict vigilance in order to prevent any victims," he said. -- JP
